In Welcome to Absurdistan, Elizabeth Nickson will usually start an essay where “polite society” generally prefers not to look: At the rot inside governments, the media, the culture, and the bureaucracies. She also not just then exposes but actually writes with the uncomfortable truth about… the quiet contempt the “elites” hold for the people they govern over. (She often says of her former ilk “We can be really, really mean.”)
Her essays often hit like a sucker punch in the gut that you don’t see coming, providing a rash of failure, cowardice, and corruption—but most of the time, she won’t leave you there… Instead, she’ll slowly climb us all upwards, towards recovery: She writes of courage over compliance, and community over distraction. (Yes, too much screen time!) Her essays kick you in the slats, but then, she illuminates her readers while insisting you grow a spine, so as to be able to see what is clearly happening under the facade, a world we don’t often see.
What emerges is not despair but resolve—a reminder that history is still being written; it’s not finished, and neither are we.

The End of The Green Fantasy
Bill Gates walked away from the Climate Change agenda in late October 2025, calling for an end to the “green premium” which is the increasingly vertiginous cost of green energy and sustainability regulations.
Once the king of the UN’s Climate Conferences, he is no longer attending COP 30 nor funding projects… but why? Does it have something to do with the fact that “Green Energy” will never be able to power the mammoth A.I. data centers now being built? Time will tell.
Still – for the past twenty years, the economies of the west have been artificially capped, and two generations have had their opportunities limited, if not eliminated entirely. We are sitting on a powder keg of suppressed creativity, opportunity and growth, which will transform the world.
In this keynote presentation, Elizabeth explains how this green fantasy happened in the first place, what happens next, and what are the main sticking points – i.e., the roadblocks that must be eliminated, so we can all thrive.
